Te Muri Working Bee - April 28th 2021

Join the FOR Parks crew at Te Muri for a working bee Wednesday April 28th.


We'll help rangers with fencing, weeding, preparing for planting and other tasks that need to be done that day. All skills levels welcome.


Please bring lunch and water, wear closed toe shoes and clothes appropriate for the weather.

Meet 9:30am outside Couldrey House, Wenderholm.

Regional Park Artist in Residence


Te Uru Gallery, February 20 - 2 June 2021, Te Ana Ru Cave, Whatipu

Visit Jenny Gillam and Eugene Hansen’s recreation of the kauri dance floor at Te Ana Ru Cave, Whatipu, WRRP. This floor has an accompanying soundtrack which features seismic vibrations and taonga puoro music played by park ranger Riki Bennett. A book featuring text and photos is available for purchase at the gallery.


Join Jenny and Eugene for a talk and tour of their work at the gallery on 6 March at 2pm. It’s free and no booking is required.


Arataki Visitors Centre, March 22 - 3 May 2021, Kowhai and the Giants, Anawhata

Kate Parker’s Kowhai and the Giants is an exhibit of story boxes which visualize environmental issues of the Waitakere Ranges through paper dioramas.

  • The 3D story has been captured in a children’s book which will be launched at Arataki on March 28th.

  • Kate will share some of her papershaping and storytelling skills at a workshop for kids on April 22nd.


Central Library, April Date to be confirmed, Aotea Great Barrier Island

2020’s Artist in Residence Chris McDowall will talk about the participatory and conservation ‘maps’ he has made while in residence on Aotea Great Barrier Island. The residency was a partnership project with Glenfern Sanctuary.

Night Walks! March 2021

Go out at night and explore!

Four Night Walks with Nature are to be hosted by Forest & Bird Waitakere alongside Arataki Visitor Centre. Hurry and call the Centre and reserve your places as these walks are popular and are happening this week.

The walks are 7 - 9 pm on

  • Thursday March 25th , ZigZag Track, Titirangi

  • Friday March 26th, Arataki Nature Trail, Arataki

  • Saturday March 27th, Kakamatua Inlet Track, Huia Rd

  • Sunday March 28th, Matuku Link, Bethells

Te Muri Working Bee - Dec 2020

Get stuck in and help create more walking opportunities.

Te Muri working bee

Tuesday 15 December.

We will build simple stiles to make it easy for people to get over fences, remove weeds and paint track markers which will be installed along basic tracks in paddocks - all while you enjoy the beauty of Te Muri.
