Legacy Fund
Help Shape Recreation and Conservation in Auckland's Regional Parks
What is the Legacy Fund?
The Friends of Regional Parks Legacy Fund established in 2018, backed by the Auckland Foundation, has been created to provide for funds to supplement Auckland Council ratepayer funding of regional park projects and acquisitions.
The fund will build a financial base can help in the purchase and develop new regional parks. The Legacy Fund will also enable short-term fundraising efforts, which will help us to buy and open parks to the public more quickly.
We welcome contributions to the Auckland Regional Park Legacy Fund from private individuals, bequests or organisations.
Valuing the past
Creating the future
Over 100 years ago, far-sighted men and women created the beginnings of the Auckland Regional Parks network by setting aside native bush in the Waitakere Ranges as natural open space for recreation and conservation.
Since then, many other regional parks have been purchased and gifted, providing Aucklanders with access to the region's finest open rural landscapes - forest and bush, farms, coastlines and beaches.
Like our forebears, we must have the vision to preserve Auckland's special places, purchasing land years ahead of development to ensure future generations enjoy easy access to a regional park.
