With the first reserve created in 1895, Auckland's Regional Parks are now priceless taonga where residents and visitors can freely enjoy recreation on beaches, in native forests, or on farm landscapes.
Auckland's 28 Regional parks, cover more than 45,000 hectares. They include over 20,000 hectares of native forest, over 1,000 kilometres of undeveloped coastline and two marine reserves.
Walkers have diverse opportunities over 500 hundred kilometres of coastal and inland tracks.
Rich in natural flora and fauna, regional parks allow Aucklanders to enjoy some of the finest landscapes, forests and coastlines.
They offer relaxing recreation in natural settings, and heighten appreciation of our maori and farming heritage.
