Te Muri

Te Muri is a relatively new park that extends Mahurangi West Regional Park. You can access it from Mahurangi West via a wet feet crossing of Te Muri Stream (low to mid tide recommended) or via kayak to the beach campsite.  FORParks has this park firmly in its sights for efforts to speed up developments that will enable full public access for all groups as soon as possible.

Regular Working Bees

FOR Parks and Auckland Council run regular working bees for volunteers to take part in planting and weeding activities.

Progress from first Te Muri Working Bee in 2020

FOR Parks volunteers spent a glorious day at Te Muri in December on our first working bee. We painted wayfinders for tracks through paddocks that take walkers to the high points in the interior of the park and disposed of a few weeds along the way. As part of improving these tracks, we built a prototype stile allowing people to negotiate fences without having to open farm gates. These stiles, designed by our Treasurer Ralph Lyon,  sit lightly on the ground and do not disturb archaeological and geological features underneath. Observers report  campers and other park visitors in January were already making good use of these new tracks.    View new tracks here
